Milwaukie, Oregon

Acupuncture in a quiet house on Harrison Street

One acupuncturist, one treatment room and a first visit that is explained before it starts. We are in downtown Milwaukie, a short drive from Portland's southeast side.

  • The same acupuncturist at every visit
  • Thin, single-use needles
  • Fees explained before you book

Elnora Greene

Licensed Acupuncturist (L.Ac.) and owner

Ginger is a one-person practice, so you meet the same person every time: the same room, the same chair and the time to talk before anything starts.

I set up the clinic in the front rooms of a house because I wanted it to feel like a neighbor's, not a waiting room. I tell you what I am going to do before I do it, and you can change or stop anything at any point.

What I offer

  • Acupuncture with thin, single-use needles
  • Cupping, as an add-on
  • Moxibustion, as an add-on
  • Licensed Acupuncturist (L.Ac.) · OR License no. 000000

Visits and add-ons

What a visit is, and what you can add

Every visit starts with a conversation. You choose any add-on with Elnora at the start, and you can say no at any point.

Visits

How long each one takes.

  • First visit

A conversation about your health and your week, a look at your pulse and tongue, a first treatment and a plan for what comes next.

    75 minutes
  • Follow-up visit

A short check-in, then a treatment. We change what we do to how you have been since last time.

    45 minutes
  • Short visit

A brief check-in and a lighter treatment, for a visit between visits. Ask whether it suits you.

    30 minutes

Add-ons

Added to any visit, with your yes.

  • Moxibustion

Gentle warmth from smoldering mugwort, held near a point and never touching the skin.

    10 minutes
  • Cupping

Glass or silicone cups on the back or shoulders with light suction. They can leave faint round marks that fade in a few days.

Your first visit

What happens, step by step

About 75 minutes, most of it resting.

  1. 01

    Step 1: Arrive and settle

Come a few minutes early and sit in the front room. There is a cup of tea if you want one.

  2. 02

    Step 2: We talk

About 20 minutes on your health, your sleep and your week, with Elnora taking notes by hand. Ask anything you like.

  3. 03

    Step 3: Treatment

You lie on the table under a sheet or blanket. A few thin needles go in, and then you rest. Say so at once if anything is too much.

  4. 04

    Step 4: A plan

You agree what comes next, from how often to come to what to do at home. It is a suggestion, never a promise.

Questions

What people ask first

Does acupuncture hurt?

Most people feel a brief pinch, a dull ache or a warm, heavy feeling, and many feel very little. The needles are much thinner than the ones used for injections. Tell Elnora if anything is too much and she will adjust or stop.

Are the needles clean?

Yes. Every needle is sterile, comes in a sealed pack, is used once and goes straight into a sharps container.

How many visits will I need?

It varies from person to person. At your first visit Elnora suggests a plan as a starting point, never a promise, and you review it together as you go. Some people come once for something specific, and others come now and then.

Do you take insurance?

We don't bill health plans. Some plans reimburse acupuncture from an itemized receipt, called a superbill, which we give you after each visit. Your plan decides what it pays, so it is worth a call to ask.

Can I use my HSA or FSA?

Often, yes. Ask your plan administrator whether acupuncture qualifies and what paperwork they want.

What should I wear and eat?

Wear something loose that rolls up at the sleeve and the pant leg. Have a light meal beforehand so you are not hungry, and skip a large one.
